Patrick Achi opens proceedings of the 27th Universal Postal Union Congress
The Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, Patrick Achi, opened the 27th summit of the Universal Postal Union on Tuesday, 10 August, at the Hotel Ivoire Sofitel in Abidjan.
The Malian Prime Minister, Chogun Maiga, took part in the ceremony, which enabled him to announce his country’s candidacy for the union’s administrative council for the next four years.
This 27th summit, whose theme is “Covid-19 and the postal sector: what has changed, what has not changed and what must change”, must develop strategies to ensure the future of the world’s post, Patrick said, urging delegates to find the solutions needed to preserve its future in the digital revolution.
For him, the UPU’s challenge is to reduce the postal divide between industrialized and developing countries by deriving valuable benefits from the digitalization of the postal sector, which will be assessed during this 27th summit.
