A Word From His Excellency Prime Minister Of The Republic Of Côte D’ivoire

Amadou-Gon-COULIBALY Premier ministre de la République de Côte d’Ivoire

Under the distinguished Chairmanship of His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, our country is actively preparing to host the 27th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) from 10 to 28 August 2020.

The Government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire is honored to host the global community of Post Offices in its capital. In my capacity as Prime Minister, Head of Government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, I would like to express our country’s firm commitment to successfully conduct the organization of this major international meeting in a peaceful environment.

Overall, the African continent is undergoing a major economic and social transformation. Like its neighbors, Côte d’Ivoire has made structural progress in recent years to cope with this major change. Our country, which has always distinguished itself by its economic dynamism in West Africa, has been displaying reassuring indicators with an average growth rate of about 8% for nearly 8 years.

Since 2011, the Ivorian Government has been working to build the pillars of an inclusive digital economy and a state-of-the-art postal sector, enabling:

  • the transformation of the Public Administration by modernizing the State’s platforms and making public services accessible to citizens;
  • the development of constant innovations in the digital economy and the Post Office sector;
  • the establishment of a regulatory framework that promotes trust between the Public Administration and the public, and that enables the efficient and effective implementation of development projects;-the promotion of training and professional skills development in general.

The transformation and modernization of the postal sector will certainly contribute to leading our country towards a real economic revolution.

The 27th Congress of the Universal Postal Union to be held in Abidjan is an additional sign of the international community’s confidence in Côte d’Ivoire.

The entire Government is, therefore, acting under the National Committee of Organization to ensure an adequate mechanism for the success of this event in our home country.

Dear participants, dear congressmen, I would like to wish you all the best in your preparations and an excellent congress for the year 2020.

Come to Côte d'Ivoire
